SERVICING YOUR BOILER

Financially, it is tempting to only get the gas man in to look at your boiler when there is something going wrong. Reduced boiler pressure, odd noises, smells of gas or lack or heating and/or hot water, are all reasons why we might call out an engineer. In fact, boiler efficiency can be optimised and repair costs minimised, solely by giving your boiler an annual service. A boiler service can save you money in the long-term by improving the boiler’s overall performance and it also brings you peace of mind to have the appliance checked by a GAS SAFE engineer. Importantly, however, it is worth remembering that the warranty on many boilers are only valid if you can provide a record of annual servicing.

At PBT Installations, a full service of your gas boiler costs £75 plus VAT. For this, not only does the engineer carry out the service, but the details of your boiler and maintenance history are entered on the PBT system, and you automatically receive a reminder each year when the service is next due. During your boiler service, a PBT engineer will: + check over the boiler and flame, if possible + assess the flue (externally and internally) + look at the operating pressure and/or heat input + ensure the safety devices are all working + see that the case seals form an effective seal + review the boiler, looking at the main components (burner, heat exchanger, main injector, spark/sensor probe) + ensure the boiler fires safely, to identify any working faults + look at the boiler parts, cleaning where necessary After the service has been completed we can provide you on request with a service report detailing everything the PBT engineer has done.
