Improvements in UK Air Conditioning

With global warming increasing and heatwaves occurring more frequently, home owners across the British Isles are concerning themselves not only with how best to heat their houses, but  how to cool them too. 

Improved standards of insulation make a big difference in helping to keep properties cool, but with temperatures regularly soaring, more people are looking into air conditioning.

In the past, air conditioning has had a bad reputation for its use of refrigerant, known to contribute to the greenhouse effect. However, the previously harmful R22 refrigerant has been replaced with a new gas called R32 which has zero ODP, meaning it does not harm the ozone layer. It is a Class B refrigerant which means it is classified as non-toxic, safe for both humans and the environment. 

In addition, in recent years technology has also advanced.  Air conditioning units use higher pressure and produce more power meaning that they can be used more sparingly.   This, along with F Gas Regulations, mean that air conditioning units are both more efficient and less detrimental to the environment.

 Whilst air conditioners run on electricity, it is possible to choose an energy supplier who generates 100% green energy from renewable sources. Alternatively, a homeowner can choose to install Solar PV to generate their own energy to offset the impact of running air conditioning.

The goverment currently offer 0% Vat on the installation of air conditioning and heat pumps which means it’s a great time to invest.
