Mr. and Mrs. Gittins have no previous experience of self-build projects, so making the decision on who to work alongside was an important one. Based in Upton-upon-Severn, the couple wanted a family home for them and their 4 children that would be energy efficient, comfortable and modern. PBT Installations helped them achieve this.
Choosing the Right Heat Pump for the Project
To start with, our initial planning included a discussion with Mr. and Mrs Gittins to delve deeper into their requirements. In addition to this, we provided heat loss calculations to ensure we met their energy efficient specification. The result from this was a recommendation for a Stiebel Eltron WPL25 Air Source Heat Pump which they agreed with.
Following their request to house their hot water cylinders in the loft in order to maximise living space, we then adapted the system design to allow for this. We also designed the system to produce heating and hot water for a future garage. This forward-thinking approach means their family doesn’t have to work around their heat pump, the heat pump works around them.
How Did PBT Installations Help?
PBT Installations provided a number of installations throughout the project, on top of the heat loss calculations and the full heat pump installation. Stiebel Eltron Easytron heating controls were installed in conjunction with the heat pump so higher efficiencies were available for the property.
Our team installed a Mitsubishi MVHR unit under the supervision of Heat & Energy Project Management. We supplied and oversaw the installation of underfloor heating on the ground floor of the property and installed radiators throughout the upstairs. In addition, we undertook the plumbing in the kitchen, utility and all four bathrooms.
