Why ‘Whole Home’?

We design and install intelligent energy systems that make your home cheaper to run, more comfortable and less dependent on the grid.

Most homes are heated, powered and cooled by separate systems, bought at different times from different companies, that never talk to each other. We do it differently. We design your heat pump, solar panels, battery and controls together as one whole-home energy system, so each part makes the others work harder and your home uses less energy overall. That’s what we mean by whole home.

What’s in a whole-home system

  • Heat pump: low-carbon heating and hot water from the air or the ground, replacing your boiler
  • Solar PV: free electricity from your roof to power the house and the heat pump
  • Battery storage: stores solar and cheap off-peak electricity for when you need it
  • Energy management: the Solarwatt Manager decides, minute by minute, where your energy goes
  • Ventilation: mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR) brings in fresh, filtered air while keeping the heat in
  • Optional extras: air conditioning for summer cooling and an EV charger for your car

Every home is different, so not every home needs every part. We start with a full survey and recommend only what makes sense for you.

Why we install them together

Sized for each other

Your heat pump will usually be your home’s biggest electricity user. We design your solar and battery around it, using the same heat loss survey, instead of sizing each system in isolation and hoping they fit together.

Cheaper energy for your heating

Your battery charges from your solar panels or from cheaper off-peak tariffs, then powers the heat pump and the rest of your home when grid electricity costs more.

Systems that talk to each other

The Solarwatt Manager works with your Stiebel Eltron heat pump. When you’re generating spare solar power, it can use it to heat your home and hot water rather than exporting it to the grid for a few pence.

One installer, one point of contact

One survey, one design, one installation team and one number to call for aftercare. There’s no passing the blame between a heating company, a solar company and an electrician, and we handle the paperwork, from MCS certificates to network operator applications.

How it works through the year

In summer, your solar panels power the house, heat your hot water and charge the battery. Any surplus can be exported to the grid on an export tariff. If you have air conditioning, the sun that heats your home also powers its cooling.

In winter, when there’s less sun, your battery charges overnight on cheaper electricity and runs the heat pump and home through the day. The energy management system shifts what it can to the cheapest times automatically, with very little input from you.

You don’t have to do it all at once

Many of our customers build their system in stages. We plan a roadmap with you so each step is ready for the next. For example, you might start with solar and a battery now and add a heat pump when your boiler is due for replacement, or fit a heat pump first while the grant is available.

Because the whole system is designed from the start, nothing has to be ripped out or redone later.

Grants and 0% VAT

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme gives £7,500 off an air source or ground source heat pump, or £9,000 for off-gas-grid homes replacing an oil or LPG boiler. Heat pumps, solar panels and battery storage installed in homes also currently qualify for 0% VAT until 31 March 2027.

Who it suits

  • Homes moving off oil, LPG or an ageing gas boiler
  • Self-builders who can design everything in from the start
  • Renovators planning major work on an existing home
  • Households with an electric car, or planning one
  • Anyone who wants lower, more predictable energy bills
  • Homeowners looking to improve their energy rating before selling. Read does renewable technology add value to your home?

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to install everything at once?

No. Many customers build their system in stages. We plan a roadmap with you so each part is ready for the next, for example adding a battery or heat pump later without redoing earlier work.

Can you add to a system I already have?

Often, yes. For example, we can add a battery or heat pump to existing solar panels. We check what you already have during the survey and tell you what’s compatible.

Will a whole-home system cut my energy bills to zero?

It can reduce your running costs significantly, but the savings depend on your home, how you use energy and your tariff. We give you realistic estimates based on your survey rather than headline promises.

Will my battery keep the power on in a power cut?

Some batteries can provide backup power during a power cut, but only if the system is designed for it. If backup matters to you, tell us during the survey and we’ll include it in the design.

What grants can I get?

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme gives £7,500 off an air source or ground source heat pump, or £9,000 for off-gas-grid homes replacing an oil or LPG boiler. Heat pumps, solar panels and batteries installed in homes also currently qualify for 0% VAT until 31 March 2027.

Who looks after the system once it’s installed?

We do. You have one point of contact for the whole system, and we offer servicing and aftercare for everything we install.
